Book Assigned to Reviewer

Book Assigned to Reviewer

Once we receive your book preference form—where you tell us which book(s) you’d like to review—awards directors assign book review slots in the order received. Once we assign you to a book, we’ll send you an automated email that lets you know you have the book. That email also includes an up-to-date reviewer summary, which shows the status of ALL books you’ve picked up.

Reviewer Notification Email

Once we’ve assigned the third reviewer to each book, we send two emails:

  • One to the author letting them know it’s time to mail (or email) review copies, and

  • One to all three reviewers notifying them that the review copies are on the way.

Scoring Form Acknowledgment

After submitting a scoring form, you’ll get two email notifications:

  1. Google Form Confirmation &

  2. MWSA Scoring Confirmation

Google Form Confirmation

Google Forms Email

You should get this email within a minute or two of successfully submitting a scoresheet. This email is automatically generated and sent by Google’s system and includes ONLY what you submitted on the form.

If you don’t get this confirmation from Google, you did not successfully submit your scoring form! Although this only happens a time or two each season, in our experience, this normally means that the reviewer didn’t click on the SUBMIT button on the form’s last page. Try to submit the form again, or (unfortunately) start from scratch with a new form.

MWSA Scoring Confirmation Email

Within a few days of submitting each of your scoring forms, the awards directors will email you an acknowledgment showing what you submitted. As opposed to the initial notification from Google, this email is manually created by the awards directors and includes the actual numerical scoring results as well as the medal equivalent score for YOUR evaluation of each book.

This email is NOT automatically sent immediately after you complete your scoring form. Instead, we have to look at your submission, ensure you used the correct scoring form and added appropriate/sufficient comments, and then generate the email.

For this reason, if you don’t get this email within a couple of days after submitting your scoring form, there may be a problem. Please contact the awards directors if you submit a scoring form for a book and don’t get the acknowledgment email after a week—there’s a good chance that something went wrong!

As you can see in the example below, this email also includes your up-to-date reviewer summary (showing the status of all books you’ve picked up during the season).
