Responsibility and Follow-through

John’s thoughts—this has been a problem for as long as I’ve been volunteered for MWSA (2009ish)

  • MWSA needs to have a definitive assignment of responsibility for programs and activities—who’s in charge of what.

    • The leadership and portfolios document (accessed from the main Admin page) can help in this regard.

  • Case in point. I just now removed the Scholarship Program page from the website, because no one has updated it to indicate what happened.

    • Since we told “everyone” about this program, we should have notified “everyone” what happened (who won). Did we announce the winner? Did anyone think of putting this on the website or social media? If not, why not? Did we publish any of the submissions—especially the winning submission?

  • Write you story. I’m not clear on whether I’m supposed to create a page for attendees. Can we have regular follow-ups on these kinds of programs and initiatives?

  • We rely too much on sloughing off work to the person who does the website. However, it shouldn’t be that person (Allen Tiffany or me) who notices problems and fixes them. That job should be shared by others in leadership positions.
