Note from the President
Hello! A big workload awaited me upon my return from Dayton, but I I wanted to write this short note to let everyone know that I'm honored to be the new president of the Military Writers Society of America, succeeding Joyce Faulkner. Joyce has done a tremendous job and I'll be working hard to continue her legacy.
The 2012 MWSA conference in Dayton was a tremendous success. We've had a glitch in posting the list of book award winners, and for that I apologize. The list should be up later today.
We had a great turn-out and it was a lot of fun renewing friendships with members I met in previous conferences and getting to see new faces and becoming friends with new members. We had a full schedule of events and I was happy to see the enthusiasm and interest exhibited by the members.
We've an exciting future ahead! Our not-for-profit application is being processed by the IRS and should be completed in a few months. I'll make the announcement once it becomes official. Its impact is going to open new doors of opportunity for the organization that will help us in our outreach and education efforts.
I will have more news for you next week! Until then,
Yours in MWSA,
Dwight Jon Zimmerman
