Our Awards Program
Dwight Zimmerman our soon ot be President has graciously donated ten copies each of "Saga of the Sioux and Lincoln's Last Days" to be sold at the book table at our conference and the proceeds donated toward the costs of running the awards program.
An indication of his belief in the program and the direction MWSA is taking. I am sure I speak for the members when I offer my thanks for this generous donation.
Below I have included Dwights comments on this.
The Military Writers Society of America book awards criteria is one of the most stringent of all awards programs. An author who receives an award does so through merit, not as a result of a popularity contest. This is a fact that cannot be stressed enough--though other awards programs may be more famous, few have as impartial and demanding a criteria as does the Military Writers Society of America. I support the newly enacted requirement regarding having a separate fee charge for authors wanting their books to be considered for awards. Eloquent words are one thing. I'm also putting my money where my mouth is. At the MWSA 2012 conference in Dayton I have directed that all proceeds of sales of my books at the conference are to go to funding the awards program.
