Webmaster's Corner - Use the Site… A LOT

Google and Bing Rank 'Activity'

The two big search engines, Google and Bing, rank a website higher the more active the site. This means new content bumps the MWSA site up in the search results. That's a good thing. But, from where will all this new content come? From you!

Remember, you can add content to the MWSA site, and members absolutely should add content as often as you have anything MWSA-related to share. The easiest ways to add content:

Webmaster's Corner - New Calendar

Share your big events!

The MWSA website now includes a shared calendar for member events. Are you speaking at a library? Signing books at a store? Appearing on a radio program? Then share the event with other members. We encourage members to post events with as much detail as possible. Keep the title of the event short, please, but write as much as you need in the "body" of the announcement. The announcements will appear on the MWSA website.

Book Reviews

Over on my blog for "Readers and Writers" I have been posting thoughts on writing book reviews. One of the topics is "Marketing Reviews" — the class of review offered by MWSA to members. If you read Writing Marketing Book Reviews, it might help clarify how a marketing review differs from an impartial or academic review.

Webmaster's Corner - We're Almost Done!

Yes, it really is almost done...

The new and improved MWSA Website (version 3.0) is up and running. In the coming days, we will be sprucing up the artwork and adjusting the colors a little. It was a three-day rush with a lot of help from Jim Greenwald, Joyce Faulkner, and Dwight Zimmerman. In the last two years, we've transformed the MWSA site from an old-fashioned static site to a "live" site with content that changes almost daily. If you aren't using the site... you should be!

Webmaster's Corner - Big Site Redesign Coming!

One final reminder -- the MWSA website goes offline Friday through Sunday, March 29-31, 2013. This is a major overhaul, intended to improve phone, tablet, and computer screen appearance. Also, we will be streamlining the site significantly. Expect some pretty radical changes. The summer will be spent improving the site, based on experiences, so we can have a great site by the next conference.
