War Stories: An Enlisted Marine In Vietnam
The elevator pitch for War Stories: An Enlisted Marine In Vietnam could be "All Quiet on the Western Front meets the Marine Corps at the Vietnam DMZ." That would pretty much tell what it's about. Given enough floors to travel, there'd be an explanation that the reference to "All Quiet" is not an egotistical comment about quality, but more a description of content. Although "All Quiet" is a novel while "War Stories" is a memoir, they both deal with military training and service in front line, conventional combat from the perspective of a low level enlisted man. If the "pitchee" wasn't a movie producer, there'd probably be a statement that "War Stories" describes what it's really like, without all the John Wayne, Hollywood stuff. That would have to do it, since elevator pitches need to be as short as elevator rides, but, in a perfect world, the elevator panel would suddenly display a "Buy it Now" button at the end of the spiel.
